Signature poem story

Han Xin forced Zhong Li to cut his own throat

Jong Li Ma (-201 BC) was a military general in the late Qin Dynasty and early Western Han Dynasty.

Jong Li Mui participated in the battle between Xiang Liang and Xiang Yu at the end of Qin Dynasty, and was an important general of the Chu army during the war between Chu and Han Dynasty, and was one of the two most famous generals of Xiang Yu. Later on, Xiang Yu fell into the trap of Chen Ping under Liu Bang and doubted the loyalty of Zhong LiMei, who thus lost Xiang Yu's trust. During the battle of Gaixia, Zhong LiMei fled from the Chu army.

After Xiang Yu's death, Chung joined Han Xin. After Liu Bang became the emperor, he appointed Han Xin as the king of Chu. When Liu Bang learned that Chung Chi Mai had fled to Chu, he asked Han Xin to hunt him down, and Han Xin sent his soldiers to protect Chung Chi Mai's entry and exit. In the seventh year of Gaozu's reign (201 B.C.), the king of Chu was denounced for plotting a rebellion. Liu Bang, the first Han emperor, adopted Chen Ping's plan and attacked Han Xin on the pretext of going on a trip. Han Xin intended to send troops to resist and claim his innocence, but he was afraid that the matter would become serious. Someone told Han Xin, "If you kill Zhong Li Mi and present him to the emperor, the emperor will be very happy and you will be fine. Zhong Li Mi told Han Xin, "The emperor does not dare to attack you because we are together. If you want to catch me and please the emperor, I will die today, and you will soon perish". When Han Xin refused to listen to his advice, Zhong Li Mei scolded him and said, "So you are not a man of virtue and trust", and then cut his own neck and committed suicide. Han Xin brought his head to Liu Bang in Chen (present-day Huaiyang, Henan Province) to explain to Liu Bang, who had him captured. Later, Liu Bang pardoned Han Xin, who was demoted to the position of Marquis of Huaiyin.
